What is Diabetes?
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic disorders, 2 involving different organs and tissues, lifelong and is characterized by an increase in glucose levels in the blood: hyperglycemia.

– Need to urinate frequently
– Very hungry
– Lack of energy
– Very thirsty

How has it affected us to this day?
- – 90% of people with diabetes have type 2 disease.
- 80% of lower limb amputations were performed in people with diabetes.
- 13 out of 100 deaths in Mexico are caused by diabetes.
- The age group with more deaths from diabetes is between 40 and 55 years.
- Currently, 1 in every three deaths in Mexico reported diabetes as a secondary cause.
- Diabetes is one of the few diseases that affect more women than men. On average, men with diabetes die at a younger age than women (67 versus 70 years, respectively).
Don´t worry, you can prevent it, or control it, through:
- A well balanced diet
- Exercise program
- Weight control. Avoid being overweight or obese
- Taking an annual glucose testing
